His Holiness Arriving Earlier!
The Private Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama has announced a change for His Holiness’ trip to deliver a series of teachings and a public lecture this July at Lehigh University.
Due to changes in his travel itinerary, His Holiness will arrive at Lehigh an afternoon early and begin teaching the afternoon session (2 p.m. to 4 p.m.) of July 10th, not July 11th, as reported in May.
For the July 10th morning session (9:30 to 11:30 a.m.) ONLY, His Holiness will be preceeded by two of the foremost teachers of Tibetan Buddhism:
• Venerable Thubten Chodron, “The Layout of the Stages of the Path Teachings and their Contemplative Value”
• Professor Robert Thurman, “Jey Tsong-kha-pa and his masterwork, the Great Treatise”
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will teach from the afternoon of July 10th through July 15th on Tsong-kha-pa’s The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment: The Lamrim Chenmo.
The lectures by Professor Jeffrey Hopkins and Doboom Tulku Rinpoche have been cancelled due to His Holiness’ ability to arrive for the afternoon session beginning at 2 p.m.
Joshua Cutler, Director of the Tibetan Buddhist Learning Center, said “The teachings on the Great Treatise are a coming together of three important factors. You have the greatest teacher in the modern Tibetan tradition teaching one of the most important treasures of the literature of Tibet, preceded by two eminent teachers of the budding American Buddhist tradition. It is a wonderful opportunity for those attending.”
Single day tickets are still available for the teachings, including July 10th. Tickets are $45-$60 per day, with each single-day ticket covering both the morning and afternoon sessions. Seating capacity for the Sunday, July 13th morning session has been filled and tickets are no longer available. Tickets can be ordered from Ticketmaster online at: Ticketmaster.com, by phone at (215) 336-2000, (570) 693-4100 or (610) 233-0006, and in person at any TicketMaster outlet and at the Stabler Arena box office.
